Why it's hard to wake up in winter

The winter months are accompanied by a late dawn, lower temperatures and shorter daylight hours. All this affects the biorhythms and makes waking up noticeably more difficult.

1. Less light means less cheerfulness

The lack of morning light reduces the production of cortisol, the hormone responsible for waking up. Therefore, the feeling of drowsiness persists longer than usual.

2. The body saves energy

Cold automatically switches the body into "resource conservation mode", slowing down the processes and making you want to stay in a warm bed longer.

3. Circadian rhythm shift

Due to the darkness, the body later suppresses melatonin, the sleep hormone. Therefore, it becomes more difficult to wake up on time.

How to ease the morning rise

• Use soft lights or sunrise alarms;

• Go to bed at the same time.;

• Do light exercises whenever possible;

• Go out into the light in the first 30 minutes after waking up.

At the Novaya Istra resort, the daily routine and the natural environment help to smoothly normalize biorhythms thanks to walks, fresh air and moderate activity.
