Zoomers are leaving megacities: a new reality or a temporary trend?

Until recently, it seemed that success necessarily looked like this: an apartment in the center of a megalopolis, an endless rhythm, takeaway coffee and a life "on the move."

But Generation Z has its own rules.

Today, more and more zoomers are choosing a quiet life outside the city or in small towns near nature.

Why are young people tired of megacities

The main reason is overload.

A modern city offers opportunities, but at the same time:
— takes up time
— increases stress levels
— creates a feeling of constant racing
— prevents normal recovery.

Generation Z grew up in an era of digital noise and emotional burnout. Therefore, for many today, the value is not "getting everything done", but maintaining an internal balance.

What do zoomers choose instead of megacities?

— remote work
— flexible schedule
— nature is nearby
— the ability to slow down
— taking care of mental health.

That is why there is a growing interest in rural recreation formats, wellness spaces and places where you can switch from constant anxiety mode.

For example, the Novaya Istra Resort is increasingly being chosen not only for classic holidays, but also for short spa trips - when you want to get out of the rhythm of the city for just a few days and recuperate.

Is this really a trend?

Rather, it is part of a larger change.

After the pandemic, people realized that quality of life is more important than location status. And the younger generation is especially sensitive to emotional state and stress levels.

But megacities will not disappear anywhere.

It is important to understand that this is not about "escaping from the cities."

Megacities will remain centers of business, technology, and culture. But the attitude to life is changing. People are increasingly looking for a balance between activity and recovery.

That is why the wellness industry is developing so rapidly.:
spas, retreats, country resorts, anti-stress and recovery programs are becoming part of a new culture of life.

Interesting fact

According to research by psychologists, proximity to nature really reduces the level of cortisol— the stress hormone. Even a short vacation outside the city helps the nervous system recover faster.

Therefore, the "go away for a weekend reboot" format is no longer a luxury and is becoming a new habit.

Result

Zoomers don't leave megacities because they "don't like cities." It's just that for the new generation, success increasingly means not a constant race, but the opportunity to live in a comfortable rhythm, stay healthy and feel normal — physically and emotionally.
