You can also travel by your own car. Even the nearest sanatorium in the Moscow region, even a trip to the cities of Russia, even other countries — everything becomes accessible if the car is prepared.
But for a trip abroad, you still need one piece of paper, which is called a green card.
What is a green card?
In simple words, a "green card" is a CTP policy that operates abroad. The certificate is issued to drivers who plan to travel to other countries by car, and guarantees the protection of the car owner in case of an accident.
Moreover, if you are the culprit, the Russian insurance company will pay the insurance compensation. If a foreign car owner, the owner of a "Green Card", turns out to be the culprit, compensation will be made for it.
The international auto insurance system has been operating since 1951 and covers 48 countries, including almost all European countries.
What does the Green Card protect?
The certificate must be issued in the country in which the car or other vehicle is registered. By the latter we mean:

trucks;

trailers and semi-trailers;

the buses;

motorcycles and mopeds;

tractors;

any construction and agricultural machinery.
Please note that each vehicle needs its own "green card", i.e. for a car with a trailer you will need 2 documents.
How to buy and how much does it cost?
The Green Card can be purchased at the offices of 10 insurance companies, including AlfaStrakhovanie, Rosgosstrakh, VSK and others.
The cost of the policy is set by the RSA. It changes monthly on the 15th and depends on the euro exchange rate. On average, the certificate costs 2500-2800 rubles.
To purchase a card, you will need a package of documents:

passport (for legal entities — certificate of registration of a legal entity);

PTS or vehicle registration certificate;

a completed application that can be downloaded on the official website of the RSA.
Some insurance companies accept copies instead of originals.
Only the policyholder is included in the certificate, and an unlimited number of drivers are allowed to drive the car. Their names are not specified in the document.
