The rules of entry of Russian citizens to Egypt have changed

However, yesterday the tour operator "Pegas Touristik" reported that the rules of entry into the country of the pyramids have changed slightly. We are talking, of course, about security measures related to the coronavirus.

From 06/18/2021, only certificates of PCR tests are accepted in printed form or in electronic form, but with a QR code and a seal. If the QR code is not read, the certificate is considered invalid.

The travel agency noted that the certificate should contain:

  • data in Arabic or English;
  • information about the type of research conducted;
  • indications that RT-PCR type testing was carried out for the tourist.

The certificate must be with you at the airport both upon landing and upon arrival in Egypt. It is a mandatory document, without which entry into the country is not possible from August 15, 2020. The exception is only children under 6 years old: they can get on the flight without a certificate.

The analysis must be submitted no later than 72 hours before arrival in Egypt. Moreover, the time is counted not from the moment the certificate is issued, but from the moment the biomaterial is taken. And these data must be specified in the document.

There are no PCR tests at Cairo Airport!

If you are traveling to Egypt through third countries, a Russian certificate is not required, but it is desirable. In her absence, you will have to do a test on arrival for $ 30. This rule applies in all resort cities of Egypt (Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Marsa Alam, etc.).

The test results will be ready within 12-24 hours, which tourists are required to self-isolate.
